Another great weekend of college football coming up. If you’re looking for a handful of good match-ups to catch this weekend, make sure to check out Alabama at South Carolina, Arkansas at Texas A&M, Oregon State at Arizona, Michigan State at Michigan, Florida State at Miami, and USC at Stanford.

#1 Alabama crushed former #7 Florida, 31-6 last weekend, solidifying their Big Dog status in college football. They face another stern SEC test this Saturday when they travel to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the #18 Gamecocks.
#2 Ohio State struggled with a stingy Illinois team that could prove to be far better than their preseason rankings. The 24-13 margin was closer than the score indicates. The Bucks host a pesky Indiana team this week that pushed Michigan to the limit last Saturday.
#3 Boise State annihilated winless New Mexico State in Las Cruces last Saturday night, 59-0. I’m not going to drop them as they cruise through their weak WAC schedule unless they struggle. They host a rebuilding Toledo team from the MAC this week.
#4 TCU shut out Colorado State, 27-0. They host Wyoming this weekend. This Frog Squad should hop over every team remaining on their schedule except Air Force and Utah.
#5 Arkansas had a bye last weekend. They’ll travel to College Station this Saturday to take on a very angry Texas A&M squad that dropped their season opener to Oklahoma State. Can the Hogs rebound from their disappointing loss to ‘Bama two weeks ago?
#6 Nebraska had the weekend off and they travel to Kansas State for the Big 12 showcase game on ESPN Thursday night. Can you spell “trap game?”
#7 The Ducks fell behind a very good Stanford team 21-7 after turning the ball over several times in the first quarter. Then they stormed back, captured the momentum and never let up. Final score: O 52 Cardinal 31. And now for the one breather they can get in the Pac-10 this season … A vacation trip to Pullman, Washington to take on Wazzu.
#8 The Sooners dispatched arch rival Texas in the Red River Shootout with less trouble than anticipated, but I’ve got a funny feeling that won’t be their toughest test in the Big 12 this season. They take on a dangerous underdog Iowa State Cyclone team this week.
#9 Auburn steamrolled Louisiana-Monroe last weekend, 52-3. They’ll head to Lexington this weekend to exact revenge on a Kentucky team that knocked them off last year.
#10 The Wildcats had the weekend off, and they’re trying to get their offensive mojo back in time for this weekend’s Beaver invasion from Oregon State.
#11 Miami looked impressive in their 30-21 road win over Clemson. They host longtime nemesis #20 ranked Florida State this weekend in a key ACC battle. It’s the first time in several years that both teams have faced each other as ranked programs.
#12 Iowa winged their way back into the Sweet 16 with a solid 24-3 win over Big Ten rival Penn State. They’ll take this weekend off to get ready for a tough road trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan on Oct 16.
#13 Stanford showed their flash and dash early on the road in Eugene last weekend but ran out of gas just as the Quacks hit their accelerator hard. Harbaugh’s troops need to rebound quickly and get ready for the visit of  #23 USC.
#14 You know Rich Rodriguez is going to ride the Denard Robinson gravy train as long as he can. The Numero Uno Heisman candidate accumulated  217 yards and 2 TDs on the ground and 277 yards with 3 TDs through the air to outlast Indiana, 42-35. Next up: Michigan State. It will be the first time ever the Wolverines and Spartans clash with both teams sporting 5-0 records.
#15 The Badgers took a serious tumble after losing 34-24 at Michigan State. I still have them ranked above the Spartans until we see how they fare against Michigan. Wisconsin hosts Minnesota this weekend in a battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe.
#16 Michigan State becomes the fifth Big Ten team to crack the Sweet 16 this season following their 34-24 win over Wisconsin. They visit instate rival Michigan in Ann Arbor this weekend and the big question is: Can they contain D.R. SuperStar?
